- Statement from the instructions exercise book:
- "The war game was after thinking for years and work out by Mr. Gotthold Lüttge Oschersleben, invented. The same compared and played all since then available war games and found out that one single war game was not like the actual warfare either. Count Haesler represents a war game really similar to the warfare and therefore can not be compared with all known games of this type at all. Count Haesler has the advantage, it becomes until the end that the battle gradually develops and still more thrilling. The game yields thousands different positions and gets therefore, ever more frequent it is played, the more stimulating. And this way a monotony can never enter since a battle of the others never is as in the case of most play."
